Celadonite is an iron-rich mica that forms as a low-temperature alteration product within the vesicles and fractures of the Deccan Traps basalt, coating cavity walls in a characteristic silvery-green metallic lustre before later zeolite and apophyllite minerals crystallise atop it. In this specimen, apophyllite prisms with their signature vitreous lustre and near-square cross-sections have grown directly over the celadonite groundmass, creating a two-tone assemblage that is textbook Maharashtran zeolite-suite mineralogy. Hand-collected by artisanal miners in the Pune-Nashik corridor and sourced through the Shaikh family network, this entry-level cluster rewards close inspection — the sparkle of the celadonite matrix is best appreciated with a loupe or in direct sunlight.
