This is a stalactitic quartz formation, built up over millennia as silica-rich fluids seeped and dripped through a channel in Maharashtra's Deccan Traps basalt, depositing layer upon layer of chalcedony and quartz around a central tube. What sets this piece apart is its completeness: the symmetrical tube cavity survives intact — a clean, whole cross-section of a geological feature that is almost always broken or lost. The entire surface is sheathed in a fine, sugary druzy quartz crust that catches light from every angle, and the tube's origin gives the piece a sculptural, vessel-like presence. The central cavity carries a striking yoni-like form, long associated in crystal lore with the sacred feminine, creation, and renewal. Hand-selected by the Shaikh family from the zeolite-bearing basalt flows of Maharashtra that have supplied collectors for generations.
